If one man is stressed about fulfilling ones basic needs, the other man is stressed on how to manage the speedily changing life style. In the entire rat race, one forgets to reflect back on what one possesses and value the present.
Stresses have increased amongst all age groups. A child or adolescent goes through various stresses at school and home, which creates a binding conflict in their minds. At school he/she may have to face the pressures by peers related to bullying, conforming to powerful groups, and forming new relations. On the other hand, stresses at home are related to meeting parental expectations to achieve high when especially during exams, parents tend to nag about spending extra time to studies. Myths around getting up late, watching TV and going out with friends would hinder their performance. As a result of the constant stressors from environment, the child may either become resistant or retreat oneself from the surroundings. As adults one cannot escape from the pressures of increasing competition at work, high rising markets and advancing technologies. All these contribute to stresses which affect one’s health by increasing the vulnerability to diseases like hypertension and blood pressure. With changing times, joint families are converting into nuclear families thereby leaving just the partners to manage all the fronts rather than other family members to share the burden. As a result interpersonal relations are becoming very restrictive which one carries ahead with the increasing age. During old age one feels alone, neglected and starts questioning the meaning of living, hence opting for old age homes.
All this may seem as a part of everyone’s daily living. One may not deny but take such stresses as casual without realizing the impact it can have on our mental and physical health. Hence, it is important that we take some measures to cope up with these stressors. It involves a series of some very simple but necessary steps.
Food being the most important variable of our living, we all tend to give in to the delicious and tempting junk. But only if there could be moments where we can control are urge, realize the value of nutrition and create a balanced diet, term ‘healthy’ wouldn’t sound too cliché to our ears.
Lets burn some ‘fats’ out and get some ‘air’ in. Therefore, one must exercise regularly and learn few relaxation techniques. Healthy body and healthy mind is a necessity for a stress free life.
After the day’s stress and hard work, you do earn a decent amount of sound sleep. So, one must get regular hours of sleep. Lack of proper sleep may lead to lack of concentration in work which affects our performance in both our personal and professional life.
Don’t let substances control you but you control substances by not abusing them. Any kind of consumption if Nicotine and Alcohol related products may give short term relief but long tern negative consequences and mental and physical hazards.
Friends and family form a very important part of emotional well-being. Hence, spending quality time with them would bring joy to life and make one more resilient. Communication channels where we can share openly and without hesitation gives relief and positive feeling in us.
One should have a positive belief system and a problem-solving attitude. Look for the brighter side of life, and try and stay positive in all situations. Each stage of life brings changes, so one should prepare oneself for them in advance and be ready to change with time.
